No matter how cliche it may sound, the "New Year, New Me" mantra is a powerful one and can be used to do some very positively, transformative things in one's life.
Whether you are on your first new year's resolution for health, wellness and fitness, or you are attempting a do-over, the following are 8 ways to help you create, stick to your plan, then turn it into a perennial lifestyle.
1- Know and understand why you decided to do it

Understand the implications that your decisions bring.
Understand that it will not be met without challenges.
Is it worth it to you ?
what are the pros and the cons ?
Know your strengths and weaknesses.
Come up with a game plan.
2- Find a fitness activity that you enjoy
It's easy to sustain for a longer run when you can find some joy from your activities.

You reach your goals faster and it's even more beneficial to your mental health.
3- Get your fitness needs from at least two sources
To your resistance training, add a sport, like soccer, swimming, volleyball cycling, hiking etc. But truly almost any combination can work.
The same reason why you get rich faster when you have more than one source of income, is the same reason why you reach your goals faster when you have more than a single mean to exercise. It is also a great way to avoid monotony.
4- Get your nutrition right
Without an adequate intake of Micro and Macro Nutrients, you are running the risk of burning

out fast, not seeing results, being injury prone, losing focus and giving up. Nutrition is an unmovable pillar for fitness, health and wellness.
5-Set timely, measurable but realistic goals
This is self explanatory in itself. A fit lifestyle is more like marathon, not a sprinting race. Trust the process and put in your work; it always pay off in due time.
6- Record and post your workouts on social media
Yeah I know, this may seem vain but it works, your followers and your friends passively keep

you accountable for the work that you do. Also, you may be an inspiration and a motivation to someone in the process.
7- The scale is not your best friend
Especially for those who are trying to lose
fat mass, the scale does not reflect true body composition. It may also have a nefast effect on your psychic and improve stress level. Instead, focus on how you look in the mirror, how your clothes fit, how you feel etc.

8- Hire a fitness professional
Hiring a fitness trainer and/or a nutritionist will help you save time by giving you the tools and the knowledge necessary to exercise safely and efficiently, especially for a novice.
Motivation and being held accountable is also a good reason why hiring a fitness professional will help you stay on top of your new year's resolutions.
